Level 1 English Learners were given a wonderful opportunity to work with ELBA in collaboration with HSBC to take part in a building your confidence for employability session. This initiative aimed to empower learners by enhancing their self-assurance and preparing them for future career prospects.
Sol from HSBC facilitated a session in supporting learners to consider their strengths and how these are important when progressing into further education and employment. During the session, Sol guided the participants through various activities and discussions that helped them identify their unique skills and abilities. This process enabled the learners to understand the significance of their strengths in achieving their educational and professional goals.
“I’ve become more aware of the value of continuous learning and skills development,” said Anila, one of the participants. She expressed how the session had opened her eyes to the importance of continuously improving and acquiring new skills to stay competitive in the job market. The experience was not only enlightening but also motivating for all the learners involved.
ESOL Trip to the Houses of Parliament
ONLS ESOL Entry 2 and Entry 3 learners recently went on an exciting trip to the Houses of Parliament. They learned about the history of the UK and how the UK government works.
The group joined in a two-minute silence for Remembrance Day. The trip involved a visit to both Houses of Parliament to enjoy the beauty and history of these places.
Khave wrote, "Thank you so much for making this day happen for us; we had a great time in Parliament [...] It was the most interesting and beautiful trip in my life. I really enjoyed it. Thank you very much.”
Abdul shared, "Today, for me, is a special day to see the historical place of Parliament. It is very interesting, especially the wood details and pictures." It was a day to remember for everyone!
Barclays Fraud and Scams Sessions
We had another fantastic opportunity to deliver a 3-day series of enrichment sessions in collaboration with Barclays. These sessions provided valuable insight to our learners into the latest trends, prevention measures, and technologies in the battle against financial crimes. The initiative aimed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and combat financial crimes effectively.
Throughout the three days, experts from Barclays shared their expertise on various aspects of financial crime prevention. They discussed the latest trends in financial crimes, highlighting the evolving tactics used by criminals and the importance of staying vigilant.
Learners were engaged in interactive discussions and activities that helped them grasp the complexities of financial crimes and the critical role of technology in combating these issues. The enrichment sessions not only broadened their understanding but also inspired them to consider careers in fields related to financial crime prevention. “The session was great and was easy for me to follow. I feel confident in identifying a scam and the precautions to take when encountering one”.
