Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools
What's this course about?
The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for further learning and training, whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting, how to support the well-being of a child or young person, and child and young person development.
What does the course cover?
Understanding the school environment, supporting children and young people’s wellbeing, and supporting child and young person development.
Course duration
12 weeks x 5 hours per week
Entry requirements
You must evidence English skills at minimum Level 1 (assessment pre-enrolment). You must be able to commit to attending all classes for the full duration of the session and submit assignments within tutor deadlines. Access to a laptop or PC is preferable, though a Chromebook loan may be available.
What can I do next?
Progression to the Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges, subject to evidence of English skills at Level 1.
Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
What's this course about?
This qualification provides knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years, with applied knowledge in early years settings.
What does the course cover?
Child development (0–5 years), early years practice, and professional knowledge aligned with Department for Education Level 2 full and relevant criteria. A minimum of 250 hours work placement is required.
Course duration
36 weeks x 5 hours per week + 5 hours per week minimum independent study
Entry requirements
You must have achieved Early Years Setting Level 1 and be able to evidence English skills at Level 2 (assessment pre-enrolment). You must commit to full attendance and work placement requirements and meet assignment deadlines. Access to a laptop or PC is preferable, with possible Chromebook loan support.
What can I do next?
You may work under supervision in roles such as early years practitioner, classroom assistant, or pre-school practitioner. This qualification also supports entry into employment within the early years workforce.
Level 3 Diploma Supporting Teaching & Learning
What's this course about?
This qualification develops in-depth knowledge and skills for working directly with children and young people in school and college environments.
What does the course cover?
Planning, delivering and reviewing learning support, bilingual support, special educational needs support, safeguarding awareness, and reflective professional practice. A minimum of 200 hours work placement is required.
Course duration
36 weeks x 5 hours per week + 5 hours per week minimum independent study
Entry requirements
You must have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning. You must evidence English skills at minimum Level 2 (assessment pre-enrolment). You must commit to full attendance and meet assignment deadlines. Access to a laptop or PC is preferable, with possible Chromebook loan support.
What can I do next?
Progression to the Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges, a foundation degree, specialist roles within the workforce, or employment in education settings.
